History of Ang Tipolo Lodge 334
Ang Tipolo Lodge No.334, F.&A.M., came into being when dedicated
brethren - residents of the province of Rizal realized that the "Beacon
of
Masonic Ligth" which used to shine in the province was "extinguished"
as a
result of the transfer in the 1970's and 1980's, when Metro Manila was
created
of the following lodges to the Capitol Masonic Temple, Central Diliman,
Quezon City:
SILANGAN LODGE No.19, chartered at Pasig City, JUAN SUMULONG
LODGE No.169, Taytay and MARIKINA LODGE No.119, Marikina.
The following brethren are instrumental in the conception and eventual
organization of ANG TIPOLO LODGE No334: VW Leodicadio SC Santiago Jr.,
VW Pedro U. Pagunuran, VW Edgardo A. Alcanites, WB Nazario G. Cordova,
WB Artemio C. Cacal, WB Mario G Navarro and others. This is likewise
made
possible with the support and endorsement of JUAN SUMULONG LODGE
No.169 and MARIKINA LODGE No.119. Worth mentioning is the invaluable
inspiration, guidance and encouragement of VW Benedicto A. Madarang,
District Deputy Grand Master - Masonic District No.11, Masonic Year
1999.
The following are significant circumstances relative to the information
of
ANG TIPOLO LODGE No.334:
*** From thereon, the brethren buckled down to "labor" and subsequently
was
INSTITUTED on December 20,1999:
*** Having satisfactorily met all the requirements provided for in ARTICLE
1,
ORGANIZATION OF A LODGE, the DISPENSATION was lifted with the approval
as a Chartered Lodge during the ANNUAL COMMUNICATION (ANCOM) 2000
in Iloilo City on the 28th of April 2000 with numerical designation,
No.334;
*** Finally, as "fruit of the labors" of the brethren, Ang Tipolo Lodge
No.334
was CONSTITUTED on May 13, 2000 in ANTIPOLO CITY, which was fraternally
officiated by Most Worshipful OSCAR V. BUNYI, Grand Master of the Most
Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the Philippines,
Masonic Year 2000.
*** As was necessary, an authority to form and operate temporarily as
a new
Lodge, a DISPENSATION, was granted in September 1999 by the
Most Worshipful FRANKLIN J. DEMONTEVERDE, Grand Master of the Most
Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the Philippines,
Masonic Year 1999.
Rationale
Ang Tipolo Lodge No.334 was named after a medicinal tree popular among
native Rizalenos, the TIPOLO tree, which commonly used as a herbal medicine.
Historically significant Antipolo, recently becoming a chartered city,
was likewise
named after the said tree.
The Charter and first Worshipful Master was VW Leodicadio SC Santiago
Jr.
then followed by WB Nazario G. Cordova the VW Pedro U. Pagunuran and
presently WB Agario Z. Ignacio.
History of Freemasonry
The precise origins of Freemasonry have been lost in
time, however, its traditions date back to the Middle
Ages and to the stone masons who build the cathedrals
and castles of Europe. To construct them, It was
necessary for men to have considerable knowledge of
geometry, arithmetic and engineering. These highly
skilled masons formed themselves into lodges to
protect the skills and secrets of their trade and to pass
on their knowledge to worthy apprentices.
